In the summer of 2004 I encountered Emil Nolde's Ungemalte Bilder. The same day I bought paint, paper, brushes and made my first watercolour. I study with Erwin van Zijl to get a better grip on the technique and the art of watercolour.
I shall always paint landscapes, but since last year I concentrate on portraits and nudes in watercolour. Recently my portret of Monet won an award (the only award winning watercolour) in the Palet magazine concours.
I use Arches, 100% cotton, 300 gsm, rough grain; and recently also Saunders Waterford 300g.
I use Talens, Oud-Holland, Schmincke, Winsor and Newton.
